Director Employment & Skills
My role as Director Employment & Skills is very varied, one day could be talking to young people about their career choices and then the next I could be talking to a large blue chip organisation about the corporate social responsibility, no two days are ever the same. My main duties are to oversee all the Constructionworks contracts and at the same time look for new and exciting opportunities that fit with our core values. I am a family man with over 15 years’ experience of managing welfare to work, training and Social Inclusion contracts around the Yorkshire and Humber region.

I meet lots of lovely individuals on a daily basis, including all of my colleagues and learners. I am the first point of contact at Cityworks and am always available to help and support.
Michelle Nichols

I take part in their careers days, open events and parents evenings to offer the best advice and information I can so that they can make informed decisions about the future. I have had over 15 years’ experience in the education sector in roles as a Tutor as well as Business Development. I am part of a fantastic team who work together to promote quality training to our future workforce.
As the Finance & Operations Manager, it is my job to ensure all the paperwork for different contracts is completed within the set deadlines. Currently coming up to my 10th year at Cityworks, having worked on various programmes within the Business. My present role as Social Audit Manager involves working alongside build regeneration partners to monitor and report on social value employment and training impacts both in the public and private sector.
Vocational Tutor
I have been part of the Cityworks family for around 5 years now, during this time I have worked over various projects and programmes. As the Tutor and Assessor of the Business Administration qualification, it’s my job to support learners of all ages through their apprenticeship, both in class and at the work place. I’m also involved in the YEI programme, I provide CSCS training and assist unemployed learners aged 15 – 29 in gaining a CSCS card. I also teach various work skills to unemployed learners aged 16 – 24 during employability sessions as part of the Traineeship programme.
As the initial founder of Constructionworks, Engineeringworks and Cityworks in 2005 as a ‘not for profit’ organisation I’ve gained vast experience in delivering employment and training strategies direct within local industry and public sector. My ongoing challenge is the development of new business and training models that capture the social benefit and value from capital investments that grow locally. My background within the public and private sectors has given me a good understanding of the social landscape and where potential business/skills opportunities exist. Over the past 25 years I have worked on the myriad of national and local programmes, disentangling the jargon to find a smooth pathway through that’s good for the customer and our partners. I enjoy working with down to earth people. I’m just a normal person like you that also has issues with weight management, shopping and people who take too long to get to the point, I will never get that time back.
